Wow! What a busy couple of weeks I've had.
On thursday, June 25th, I went with three of my chorus friends to a music camp at St Olaf college in Northfield, MN. It is a beautiful campus. We stayed in one of the dorm buildings. It was a high rise. There were two people to a room. We were told a head of time that the dorm wasn't going to have AC so we all took fans. The building that all of our events took place did have AC. The meals were included and were wonderful. I got home from that event on Sunday, June 28th.
On the following Tuesday night, I was all packed for my trip to Seattle. Our flight left Mpls @ 6:30 am. My sister, Donna and I both had a window seat. She was right behind me.
My niece, Heidi, had the day off so she picked us up from the airport. We spent some time getting to know Marshall who is almost 8 months old. He has such an infectious smile. We went to a small mall in the afternoon.
On Thursday, Donna, Marshall, Brian (Golden Retriever) and I walked up to Lowe's. From the corner gas station, we could see Mt Rainier. It was warm for Seattle until Monday.
On Friday, Donna, Marshall and I took Heidi's car and drove to a small town on the other side of Puget Sound, called Poulsbo. It is a little Norwegian village. We parked the car, put Marshall in the stroller and walked the town. We stopped for lunch and went to a wonderful bakery. The drive to get there was very beautiful. We could see the majestic Olympic mountains, we passed a place with Navy ships close to the Bremerton Navy base. Marshall was just an awesome baby the entire time. Mt Rainier was visible a lot on the trip.
Sunday, Heidi, Donna and I went into Seattle to the Pike's Market. That is always fun for us. Heidi bought a bouquet of beautiful pink and purple sweet pea's. They smelled wonderful.
On Monday, we took a really neat drive to Mt St Helen's. This was the first time I had been this far south of Seattle. The drive was beautiful. We went through some rain and some sun. We went about 4000 ft up the mountain to Johnston Ridge Visitors Center. We watched a film on the eruption. The view was spectacular.
It was a very fun vacation. I got to be with Chad, Heidi and Brian, and of course I got to get to know my great nephew, Marshall.
On the flight home I sat next to window and took pictures of Mt Rainier as we flew past.
