No News is Good News!

Finally spending some time at home. This has been a very busy week for me. Last Sunday night I held a staff meeting at work. I have three new team members to go over a lot of stuff. We had our Security Supervisor as a guest and he went over Severe Storms and warnings and also Personal Safety. It was a very informative meeting.

Tuesday night my chorus had a dress rehearsal. We had invited some of our former members to come and listen and have an audience to perform for. This coming weekend is our convention/competition here in Rochester. We have a new top this year and it is like a hologram red. We still wear it over our chiffon black skirt. This coming Monday night we will go to the Rochester Men's Barbershop rehearsal and sing our two songs for them. The convention starts on Thursday night and my chorus is having one table in the boutique, so we are also busy with that. I guess when I think about it, my hobby really keeps me busy. I have now been a member for 28 years.

Also this week on Wed and Thursday nights, my friend Carol and I attended the 55+ Alive classes for (4) hours each night. Now we should get a 10% discount on car insurance. It was very informative. We did have a 85 year old couple in the class that we all decided maybe shouldn't be driving. It really does make you think about things covered in the class when you then go out and get into your own car. We watched mostly DVD's on Seat belts, Air bags, Distractions, Drunk driving, Sleepy driving and Pedestrians among other things.

At the mall we are going to be involved in Habitat for Humanity. They will be coming in and building a small house right in the Center Court which is in front of the guest service center. People will then donate and write their name on a board of the home. It will then be taken apart and used in actual Habitat homes.

Another thing we are getting involved in is the "Green effect". The mall is in the process of changing all light bulbs to the new ones, totally going to recycling and a number of other things. I have been watching Good Morning America's special on this. Very interesting how such minor things can really make a huge difference.

We are also having a Mom of the Year contest. It is so much fun to read some of the entries from the little kids. One of them said he thought his Mom was the best because she doesn't smoke or drink anymore. She just is sort of crabby.

Jerry is just getting anxious for good weather. He still likes his job of driving for VW. Has had his motorcycle out a couple of times. He still likes to mess around in the garage.

We are getting our phone, TV and computers all hooked up to Charter Communications this coming week. This way both Jerry and I can be on at the same time and it won't tie up the phone line. Should also be much faster. Our email address's will probably change so will have to let everyone know when that happens.

We have enjoyed the blogs and pictures. I am glad that Donna has had such a good time in Rhode Island. When we heard about the storm, we were afraid it would keep them from doing a lot of things, but that doesn't seem to have happened.

I guess I really had more news than I thought I did.

Hi Mom,

Good job with taking classes to lower your car insurance. Every little bit helps!

I should have entered you in the Mom of the year contest as I am truly sure you would have won.

Love you!

Lynn
