Fun on my Duluth web sites

There have been many, many ships passing thru the Duluth channel and under the lift bridge. I usually go to all of my many sights many times a day. I have figured them out now so I can watch the lift bridge on a live web cam, and at the same time watch the harbor, the channel on a 15 second refresh web cam. Along with these I can see on a map where the ships are moored and when they are moving. So I can spend a awful lot of time during the day on these sights.

Last week one day there was a Greek ship, Olympic Melody coming out of the harbor, and a sister ship, Olympic Mariner going into the harbor. They are hardly ever in the same port and so they blew their whistles and made a really big deal out of passing in the harbor.

Today I saw that the one was going to leave around 6:30 pm. The guy with the web cam by the lift bridge had gone out to the ship earlier today and talked to the captain. He lives in Greece and said he would like to call his wife and be able to waive at her as the ship went under the lift bridge. These two ships were once owned by Onassis (married to Jackie Kennedy).

This is one of the web sites I go to: http://www.duluthshippingnews.com/

There was another ship from UK leaving just ahead of the Greek ship. So I was on my web sights, when my phone rang. It was my son, Keith calling me from Duluth and he was standing by the lift bridge. I explained to him where I was watching and he found the place. So I also got the privilege of seeing my son while seeing a ship go under the lift bridge. It was pretty amazing.

I have always thought that I must get this love of seeing ships go through from my Dad.

That's very cool, Janet. How fun that you were able to see Keith, too!
