Pat, Twyla (neighbor) and I drove out to The Sunshine Acre Childrens Home (we have called this an orphanage) to attend the Chapel Service. The regular childrens choir had gone to perform at a different service, but they had a guest group. They played many instruments and sang.
We were invited to join them for lunch in their dining hall. We as guests were asked to go through the buffet line first. The food was delicious and the President/CEO came over and sat with us. All of the children and staff call her Aunt Carol. She is the daughter of the husband and wife who started the childrens home. The buffet consisted of Sliced Pork, Roasted Potatoes, mixed steam vegt. a roll and a huge brownie.
This was such an inspiring experience.
We were only back at the condo for about an hour when Pat and I went to a different complex to a "Barbershop Belles" concert. These are all women who I'm sure are over 55 or even 60 years old. Probably over half of them are only here for 6 months out of the year. The group doesn't belong to our International, but both the Director and Asst. Director does.
They put on a very nice show. I was suprised at how many songs they performed were the same as my chorus sings right now.
The songs were mostly from the 40's and 50's. One of the gals in this group is also in Pat's Tap Dancing group.
Back at the condo, Pat made Margaritta's and for dinner we Ham & Cheese Grilled sandwiches and Fruit. Have I mentioned that the fresh fruit and vegtables are out of this world.
