Sonja came to pick Donna, Pat and I up about 12:15 pm. We were all invited to lunch at a dear friends home in Phoenix. Sharon (Wead) Shumann was a friend of ours from Austin. Her mother and father were friends of my mother and father.
After she was married, she worked in the Subway level of the Kahler Hotel in Rochester as a buyer for Julius Estees. It was a very high end women's clothing store.
She eventually moved to Florida, and we lost touch with her. The last time I saw her was at her Mother's funeral about 15 years ago. She has lost her two oldest children to Cancer and has had two heart surgeries.
It was so great to see her. The table was set very nice. We had a lettuce salad, warm rolls, a pasta salad and Strawberry Pie. Looked at a lot of her photo's and some that we had brought along. I was so glad we finally touched base with her and we were able to visit.
On our way back to Mesa, we got off the freeway and went through Fountain Hills. There we stopped and watched the 2nd highest fountain which reaches a height of 560 Ft. It was beautiful with the mountains in the background.
Then back to Mesa where we stopped at a Zupas for dinner. It was another very great day with Donna, Pat and Sonja.
Tomorrow it's packing time and back to winter in Minnesota. At least it will be shorter with a great break like this one.
